Development Of The Baby - What Happens In The Three Trimesters?

The nine months that mark the development of the baby from a single cell into a miniature human being is one of the most awesome events of human life. These nine months are divided into three trimesters, known as the pregnancy trimesters that mark the various stages of development of the fetus into a baby. The first trimester of pregnancy is the first 14 week period- the beginning from the first day of the LMP (last menstrual period). The second trimester is 14th to 28th week of pregnancy and third is from 28th to birth, generally up to the 40th week.

Development Of Baby In The First Trimester Of Pregnancy

The first trimester is an exciting time for the would-be mother. She is getting used to the joy of bringing a new life into this world. In this trimester, many visible physical changes do not take place. But most of the women experience certain physical discomforts like morning sickness, nausea, exhaustion etc. They also experience terrible mood swings and the craving for certain kinds of food. There is a general feeling of physical discomfort throughout the first trimester. This is because of the various hormonal changes taking place in the body. The body is getting ready to nurture the fetus into a fully formed human being. This stage is also crucial because most of the miscarriages happen in this stage.

At the end of the first trimester, even though the baby is not completely formed, the heart starts beating. The eyes, ears, nose and digestive system are beginning to form in this trimester. The fetus now weighs around 1.5 ounces and is about 3 to 4 inches in length.

Second Trimester Of Pregnancy

The second trimester is the most enjoyable phase of pregnancy. The physical discomforts of the first trimester lessen in this stage. This stage is marked by the maximum development of the baby. Most of the major organs are completely formed and start to function in the second trimester of pregnancy. Eyebrows, fingernails etc. are formed in this trimester. The skin also gets covered with fine hair. By the mid of the second trimester, the mother can feel the baby moving inside her womb. In this stage, the mother's body is continuously expanding to accommodate the developing baby. By the end of the second trimester, the baby is 11 - 14 inches lengthwise and weighs around 2.5 pounds.

Development Of Baby In The Third Trimester Of Pregnancy

The third trimester of pregnancy is the most exciting and the busiest for the parents-to-be. This is the time to shop for the baby, decorate the nursery, attend child birth classes, pack for the hospital etc. Baby showers are thrown in this trimester. The physical changes in this trimester make the mother very uncomfortable. She experiences back pain, trouble in breathing, frequent urination, swelling in the limbs etc. The stomach becomes quite large and heavy, making it difficult for her to lie down or sleep.

By this time the baby would have fully descended into the pelvis from the abdominal region. By around the 37th week, the baby attains its full development and is a miniature human being. Delivery any time after this week is considered safe.

Pregnancy and delivering a healthy baby is the most miraculous incident of human life. Good nutrition, adequate exercise and sufficient pregnancy week by week care in the three trimesters are essential for the healthy development of the baby.

Baby Acne: Can It Really Threaten Your Child's Life?

To parent's dismay, baby acne is very common. Baby acne usually appears as small whiteheads on the infant's cheeks, chin and forehead. The hormones that are transferred from mother to baby at birth and with breastfeeding can sometimes cause baby acne annoying but painless condition.

Babies could have breakouts as early as 2-3 weeks after birth. Usually the acne starts between three and four weeks of age, but sometimes it can even be present in newborns.

The maternal hormones that are passed from you to the baby at the end of the pregnancy could also be the cause of your baby's acne. When a baby is born with infantile acne, the period of which it will hang on is from 2 weeks to 2 months. Worst case scenario makes it possibly till 6 months on the infant. Baby acne usually occurs on the baby's cheeks, forehead, chin, and even the back. These are common irritants that can cause skin irritation to your baby: saliva, spit-up milk, soap, and clothing that has been washed in strong chemical detergent.

Contact with an oil substances such as petroleum oil or mineral oil can cause baby acne. If you are taking certain medications while nursing, or if your baby is taking some medications, this may cause a breakout. As with adolescent acne, the acne condition can be caused by a skin irritation, certain medications, or by a hormonal change.

Wipe any food, drinks, or saliva that may drip off from your baby's mouth as this may worsen baby acne. Baby acne can be prevented, be sure that you are not using strong detergents in washing your baby's clothes. It is understandable but the only thing that parents can do is wash the baby with gentle or mild soap and treat the baby's clothes with good quality detergent. Some detergents may contain harsh chemicals that can aggravate baby skin.

Milia are little bumps that are unrelated to acne and they will disappear on their own within a few weeks. Whiteheads are small bumps, either white or flesh-colored, that are caused by blocked pores. Acne is not the only thing that can give the appearance of pimple to your baby's skin. If your baby's breakout looks more like a rash, it may be eczema. Symptoms of eczema include scaling and blisters. Eczema is a type of skin inflammation and is more serious than acne.

Do not put any oil or lotion on the infantile acne on the baby. If infantile acne does not reside after 6 months, do seek doctor's advice as this is not a common among infantile acne. Treating baby acne is more about what you should not do rather than what you should do. You should be alarmed if your baby's acne problem lasts for more than six months.

Wash your baby's face with water and some mild baby soap once a day. Avoid putting any creams, lotions or oils on your baby's skin. These products can also irritate acne. Let the acne progress on to the end, otherwise the baby's system may struggle to remove all the excess hormones. Some think that acne is the baby's skin is simply going through a cleansing process, as the baby's system cleanses itself of the unwanted hormones.

There may be special occasions when you choose to use make up to conceal your baby's acne. Your baby's skin is very sensitive and make up only add irritation to this sensitive area. - I bought several babysoy separates, and all of the colors are rich and gorgeous. I am especially fond of the eggplant, and the Kimono style is charming. The fabric is soft and the garments all very well constructed. They still look new after a couple washings with absolutely no pilling, shrinking, fading, or other forms of distress. The Kimono top is not a true kimono or wrap-style shirt; it's actually a snapside shirt with a pretty bow and trim. Baby Kicking? - Things That Might Worry You During Pregnancy

Children's Photography - Taking Pictures of Babies

Capturing the perfect picture of a baby can be a challenging but rewarding task. Baby photography is often lumped under the classification of children's photography, but baby photography is an entirely different animal altogether. Children are generally easier to work with as they can be instructed, but a small baby (which for purposes of this article we will define as under one year old) has a mind of its own.

As with children's photography, it is important to understand the development stage the baby is at in order to get the best smiles. The following are some tips for taking great pictures of babies at varies stages of development.

Up to Ten Weeks: At this stage there isn't a whole lot the baby can do but lie in a prone position. Compared to later stages, the baby is not too active at this point, so as long as the baby isn't fussy, pictures are fairly easy. Try laying the baby on its back and focusing the camera at the baby's head.

Four to Six Months: Now the baby can hold her head up, lie on her tummy, and prop her head up. The baby will watch and follow objects, reach for objects and grab. At this stage try placing the baby on her tummy, drag a toy in front of her to catch her attention, and pull it back to the camera. The baby's eyes should follow it and she will be looking straight at the camera when you snap the picture. The baby's lips are very sensitive and you can sometimes induce a smile by tickling the baby's lips with a small soft toy or tissue.

Six to Nine Months: Baby is now very alert and notices everything around her. She can typically sit up, craw and even pull herself up to a standing position holding on to objects such as a chair. At this stage the baby may respond to a gentle tickle which can be used to product a quick smile. However, you need to be fast because the laugh will be very short lived. You also need to be quick with the entire photo session as the baby's mood can change rapidly. A six to nine month old can be happy one minute and crying the next.

Nine Months to a Year: At this stage the baby responds very well to just about everything. However, with teeth coming in she can have periods of irritability that can't be resolved. She will also demand constant attention and the need to be entertained every waking minute. This entertainment can come from you or from a toy. Try playing peek-a-boo around the camera. Imitate the child's vocal sounds. Give her a prop to hold or play with. At least one of these methods is more likely than not to product a joyful smile.

One year to Eighteen Months: At this stage the line between baby photography and children's photography starts to blur. The baby will easily play with you at this stage. This means throwing ball, swinging an object, climbing on just about everything. At this stage some babies will also be shy with strangers so you may need the mothers help more at this stage than any other. Give her a toy to play with and then ask for it back. Try throwing a ball back and forth with the parent. Use a long feather duster to tickle the child and pull it back directly toward the camera.

Baby Development - The First Twelve Months

If you have a new baby, congratulations! A new baby is an exciting addition to the family. Over the next few months you'll be amazed to see how your baby begins to develop from that newborn you first took home. Here's a look at the first twelve months and the development you can expect through each month as your baby gets older.

Newborn - 1 Month

During the first month of life, your baby does a lot of developing. The muscles in the neck are starting to get a bit strong, which may allow your baby to pull her head up for a few seconds. Baby also begins to realise that she has hands and feet and may move them around showing that she's exploring her body and how it works.

1-2 Months

Now your baby is beginning to gurgle and coo and you may even see that first smile from your baby during this time - one of the big milestones you'll remember when you have a baby. Babies usually start sleeping a bit longer at a stretch at this stage of developments. Your baby's movements are becoming a bit more coordinated as well.

2-3 Months

As your baby approaches the three month mark, she's beginning to lift her head more and more. Leg, arm, and hand coordination is getting better and you'll notice your baby kicking and waving more than before, especially as her joints are more flexible. At this point she'll be attached to you and will be able to recognize her mother and father.

3-4 Months

By this point, your baby will eat more at one time, making feedings less frequent. She now has a larger stomach. Babies also begin to try to roll over at this stage in the game.

4-5 Months

At this stage development is really going fast. Babies can lift their head and shoulders and may even try to sit up, although they have to have support to do so. Your baby will be able to bring things to her mouth as well. She may be able to make sounds that she hears as well.

5-6 Months

Babies do a lot of exploration with their hands at this point. They start grabbing objects and discover the art of dropping things. Usually babies are able to roll in both directions by this age, which means you'll need to be careful when changing them. Babies become more social at this age as well.

6-7 Months

Motor skills are really showing up now. Usually, your baby can pick things up one handed and may even be able to clasp her hands as well. Often, babies this age enjoy the sounds of banging toys together. Teething may be happening at this point too.

7-8 Months

By now, your baby can sit pretty well and probably doesn't need much support. Crawling often occurs at this time and your baby may even try standing with some help. Babies are more emotional at this stage.

8-9 Months

Babies of this age are more mobile. While they may not be walking, they can get around fairly well by crawling. With some help babies can take some steps. During this month and the next couple of months, separation anxiety can be a real difficulty for babies.

9-10 Months

Your baby is finding that he can do more things with his fingers since he is more agile at this age. Often, babies can pick up objects with their fingers and they enjoy tasting things. You really will begin to see the personality of your baby emerge.

10-11 Months

Babies are getting closer to walking at this age and they are becoming more independent as well. They try walking while holding on to furniture and can often hold a cup to drink on their own. Your baby will enjoy going through the pages of books at this stage.

11-12 Months

As your child reaches the year mark, so many things are happening. Often, they take their first steps on their own. Babies of this age enjoy throwing and pushing things around. Sometimes babies don't like to take their naps at this age because of their growing feelings of independence.

Of course, as you look through these stages, remember that every baby is different. Each baby develops in their own time so if your baby is ahead or behind, it's probably nothing to worry about.

This is a review of the Pampers Baby Dry diapers. Pampers is a diaper brand that has been on the market for years and is probably the most trusted name in baby diapers. This is a great solution for parents looking for a high quality, but a little less expensive baby diaper. Breathable, less bulky, and ultimate leak protection are only a few of the features you can expect from Pampers Baby Dry diapers.

Pampers Baby Dry is the cheaper version of the Pampers product line. Let me clarify, cheaper price, not cheaper quality. These baby diapers are a colorful product featuring the Sesame Street characters. These diapers have an UltraAbsorb Core. What this means is that they absorb really well. The outcome will be more restful nights and bright shiny mornings. They don't have the same netting technology as the other Pampers products do, but I still haven't had any type of problems with leaks.

These are a great baby diaper for all sizes. Comfort is second to none. The Pampers Baby Dry has elastic leg bands, a comfortable fit that is contoured, and a lot less bulk between the legs. A breathable cover helps to keep a baby's skin dry. They have also applied something called Caterpillar-Flex to the Baby Dry's. Basically, it is specifically designed to expand and contract with your child as they grow.

Ease of use is a staple of Pampers. It's what has made them a gold standard in baby products. The Pampers Baby Dry is no exception. The tab fasteners are extra stretchy ensuring an easy fit without them breaking, as happens quite frequently with store brands. Also, these tabs utilize Velcro, like other Pampers products. This is a great feature because it allows you to check and recheck again and again, without loosing any grip from the tabs. This ensures a comfortable, secure fit. Which means you won't be wasting any diapers because they won't refasten, which in turn means you'll save money.

Overall, Pampers Baby Dry gets high marks. I like the price point at which they are sold. I like the fact that they have a bunch of different sizes. I like the leak protection and the fact that it keeps the wetness away from my baby's skin. I enjoyed, as my baby probably did, the comfortable, contoured fit. A lot less bulky, which allowed my little one to move freely. Lastly, I was pleased with the Velcro tabs. They are easy to use. I like simple. Bottom line, these diapers caused little frustration. That's a plus.
