Introducing Solid Foods - Homemade Recipe For Babies From 4 to 8 Months

Introducing solids

How much should my baby eat?

When your baby starts consuming solid foods, (usually it happens at the age of (4) 6-8 months) you will be probably wondering how much food your baby should eat. Most of the pediatrics say that you have to give your baby as much food as he or she wants.

But you have to remember that during the period of introducing solid foods to baby's diet, breast feeding or formula is still the most important part of your baby's feeding. At the age of few moths breast milk or formula provide baby with nutritious elements.

Every baby is different and there is no chart or guideline that will show how much food your baby has to eat. In order to keep your baby healthy, you have to offer a well balanced diet of solid foods. It will help to ensure that your baby is eating the right amount of the good nutritious foods.

Here are some signs showing that baby wants to eat more or has enough of food:

Baby doesn't want to eat any more: He or she doesn't want to eat any more and is closing mouth when you try to give another spoon of food. Baby can spit the food from the mouth. Or can turn the head away.

Your baby wants to eat more: Baby is opening the mouth when the spoon is closer. Baby is leaning for the spoon or is grabbing food and trying to put it in the mouth.

Homemade baby food. Recipe for babies (4)6 -8 months

Sweet Potato
(4)6 months+

How to make sweet potato?

  1. First peel sweet potatoes and cut them into small chunks.

  2. Put chunks into a pan with some water. Put enough water to cover potatoes.

  3. Next "steam" boil potatoes until they become tender.

  4. Leave some water to use it for thinning out the sweet potatoes.

  5. Remove the skin if you baked sweet potatoes and use liquid you prefer.

  6. Put potato into bowl and puree it.

  7. Add some water or other liquid to achieve smooth consistency.

Sweet potato is a delicious food for your baby and I hope he/she liked it.

Feeding Your One Month Old Baby

Make sure your baby is ready for solid food before you give it to her. Don't rush her into eating solid food. Some babies are ready for it at four months. Some babies aren't ready until they are older. Your baby's weight or age alone does not determine her readiness for solid food.

Here are some signs to look for that will tell you if your baby is ready to try solid food:

o She holds her head steady and sits with support.

o She reaches for and shows interest in food.

o She opens her mouth when she sees food.

o She no longer thrusts her tongue out during feeding, so she's able to keep food in her mouth and swallow it.

o She turns her head away when she is full.

Most babies are ready for baby cereal when they are between four and six months of age. Ask your doctor about the best time to start your baby on solid food. Rice, oatmeal or barley cereals are OK if they are finely ground. Use them one at a time.

Mix some infant cereal with breast milk in a bowl. You can also use formula instead of breast milk. Don't use cow's milk or any other kind of milk or other liquid. Hold your baby in a sitting position or put her in a child seat on the floor (Be sure she is strapped in.) so she doesn't choke. Always use a spoon to feed solid foods to your baby.

See if your baby will take half of a very small spoonful. If she turns her head away or cries, she is not ready. Try again in a week or two.

When she is ready, she will take small, messy bites. She may roll the food around in her mouth or feel it repeatedly with her tongue. Making a mess is part of learning, so just have fun with her. At this age, your breast milk or infant formula provides all the nutrition your baby needs.

Give your baby only one new food at a time. You can then see if any one of the foods causes allergic reactions. Right now, only infant cereals are a good choice. If one of these types of cereals is a problem for her, she will vomit or get a rash. She may also have diarrhea. If this happens, call your doctor or go to your clinic.

A First Trip Abroad With A Nine Month Old Baby

Our son Luke was nine months old when we went to Pefkos on the Greek Island of Rhodes for a two week holiday, our first holiday abroad since his birth. At home he was eating three pulverised meals a day, which generally consisted of baby porridge every morning, meat and vegetables for lunch and fruit with rusk for tea. All of these were prepared by us with fresh ingredients and each meal was accompanied by a bottle of infant formula milk, with an additional bottle at bedtime.

Although we had carefully chosen our accommodation to ensure that we had a kitchenette, we knew it would not be practical to cook and prepare all of Luke's meals from fresh ingredients with only basic facilities. It would also not have been feasible to pack enough of Luke's food in our suitcases to last two weeks. We simply didn't have the space or flight weight allowance to do this. We decided to pack enough baby porridge for two weeks, as this was dried and didn't weigh a lot. We also packed a full tub of infant formula powder.

This alone took up almost one kilogram of luggage allowance! We also bought some ready-made formula milk, along with a couple of fruit pots, in the departure lounge for use during the journey.

Once in Pefkos we found that the local supermarkets offered plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Bananas, one of Luke's favourites and an easily mashed and ready food, were widely stocked in the local supermarkets. As many of these supermarkets were open until around 10pm, this ensured that we always had an available supply of suitable food.

However, without more kitchen equipment, such as a food blender, we found it difficult to prepare many of the other fruits and vegetables to the required consistency. Many Greek resorts have quieter areas where tourist numbers are slightly lower than in the resorts' centres. We were staying at the quieter end of Pefkos, which had a few smaller supermarkets and a limited stock of baby food. But only a short walk brought us into the more tourist orientated area of Pefkos, where the slightly larger supermarkets offered a small but adequate range of both dried and pre-prepared baby food. Although we preferred to give Luke freshly cooked food, we reasoned that a bit of convenience baby food while on holiday was acceptable when facilities for preparation were so limited.

About 10 days into the holiday we realised that we would shortly be running out of baby milk formula. This was cause for concern, as we had not seen any for sale in any of the supermarkets we had visited. Upon asking one of the supermarket owners, we were directed to the local pharmacy where we were able to buy baby milk formula. It was a different brand from the one we generally use, but this didn't worry us. The pharmacist spoke excellent English and was even able to instruct us on how to mix it. We didn't visit any of the larger shops on the island as we would have needed to hire a car to get there.

Even so, we found that we could manage easily with the items we took with us and those available locally in Pefkos. Of course, all babies have their own individual needs. What works for one baby won't necessarily be right for another. And the availability of items at other times and in different parts of the Greek Islands may vary.

These are just our experiences from our family holiday in 2010 where we managed to buy the baby food and milk formula on our vacation to a Greek Island.

Pregnancy Pounds - How To Lose 10-20 Pounds After Pregnancy

Here's how to lose those 10-20 leftover pregnancy pounds that refuse to go away after you've given birth.

First, I must say that this isn't some quick fix. At this point, you don't want a quick fix weight loss since your body is in a delicate position. So I'm going to give you a short list of things you can do to safely lose weight in a healthy manner.

1. Eat baby food

Yep, you heard right. It's not just for your baby. This is a cheap, high quality, small-portioned snack that's ideal for new mothers. I like the banana puree myself. If you could just replace snacks with a small jar of baby food... this small step will have a big impact on your weight loss. By itself it's not much, but when added to other small steps, it works awesome.

2. Take fish oil pills

Not only are the healthy omega 3 fats in this good for your baby's brain development if you're breast feeding, they're also good for weight loss... for you. Since our modern diets are almost devoid of these omega 3 fats, bringing these up to par goes a long way towards creating a balance between omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 fats in your body.

This balance is ideal for weight loss. Depending on the quality of the pill, you'll probably want to take between 6-10 grams of fish oil pills each day for a weight loss effect.

3. Eat 3-4 scrambled eggs and 1/2 can of black beans every morning

This is big because it sets up the rest of your day. If you start off right (with a high protein, high fiber meal), it'll be easier for you to breeze through the day without your body trying to play calorie catch-up using convenient high calorie foods and snacks that are bad for you.

A lot of your bad eating habits can be directly traced to either skipping breakfast or eating a bad breakfast. Make this 1 change and your body will reward you almost immediately with weight loss.

That's how you can lose 10-20 pounds of that leftover pregnancy weight without suffering or feeling like you're being punished for trying to lose weight. Nothing is unhealthy about it, so give it a 1 week test-drive and prove it to yourself.

If you're sick and tired of getting the same old boring and tired weight loss advice on how to lose 10-20 pounds... you know, like "Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink 8 glasses of water, exercise more, and blah blah blah"... then you found the right person. I'll make weight loss easy and enjoyable for you... AND NOT BORING!

First, click http://www.weightlossguide4women.com to get your free 19-page report "How Spinning Around in a Circle Like a 4-year old Child will Skyrocket your Weight Loss Success". This will give you a jumpstart on how to lose 10 pounds of that pregnancy weight fast.

Second... after you get the free report, you'll be sent inside my website for even more unique and little known weight loss tips, tricks, techniques, and tactics. These unconventional tricks are a "shortcut" way on how to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks... no mention of eating carrots or celery. I promise.

Third, with my advice, you won't starve, have to go to the gym ever, or basically do anything that is a hassle for your busy life. Listen, I understand you want to lose the weight you gained during pregnancy without changing much in your diet or exercise plans... I get it. I have this completely covered. I've worked with over 3,700 clients. I know a 1 size fits all plan doesn't work. So I've come up with lots of "tricks" to personalize weight loss specifically for you and your lifestyle.

Fourth... there is no fourth. Just enjoy the free report and my website. If you don't lose 10 pounds with just my free information... I'd be amazingly surprised!

Description
Level 1 Slow Flow wide neck BornFree Nipple is recommended for babies 0-3 months. Nipples are made of silicone. Dishwasher safe (top rack).

Best Customer Review

- I bought these bottles 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter and loved them. I had none of the other issues that other reviewers had such as collapsed nipples or the nipples wearing (my DD started teething at 4 mos so it wasn't a biting issue, nor did they wear from washing too frequently since we only had 6-8 bottles). The valve system worked great and I would recommend this bottle system to anyone. The only drawback I have found and the reason I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are a LOT of parts to wash with having to take the valves apart, etc. Other than that I loved them and will use them for my hubby to feed our new baby when I am not home.
